US and Israel complete a joint exercise involving the deployment of a THAAD missile defense battery in Israel and its integration into regional missile defense
American European command (EUCOM) has now completed the deployment of a battery of terminal high altitude area defense (THAAD) missiles in Israel, according to IDF spokesperson. The deployment took a month and involved 250 American military personnel. The THAAD system was deployed as part of a joint American-Israeli exercise, the purpose of which was to evaluate the coordination between the American THAAD and its Israeli counterpart the Arrow and the ability of the combined systems to provide regional defense against long-range ballistic missiles such as may be fired from Iran. According to both militaries, the exercise was a resounding success.
