The Israeli government is telling citizens to expect a ‘total lockdown’ at some point as cases of the Chinese coronavirus continue to climb in the Jewish State.
Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan said on Wednesday morning that a total lockdown in Israel is inevitable given the situation of the novel COVID-19, as the number of infected people in the country climbed to 427, marking a dramatic increase of 90 units from the previous update, reported The Jerusalem Post.
Erdan instructed the police and other security forces in Israel to prepare for the decision of a total lockdown in a phone call with the heads of internal security bodies throughout the country on Tuesday evening.
Some analysts believe the crisis is playing into Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bid to stay in power as the Left comes after him with charges in court for corruption. His trial has been delayed due to the epidemic.
