In the face of Trump administration support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Jewish State, Israel looks to soon annex the Jordan Valley, a long coveted goal of the Zionist dream.

Russia is calling on Israel to prevent regional tensions from escalating, Russian news outlet Izvestia wrote.

According to the Palestinian Embassy in Russia, Abbas turned to Putin with a proposal to convene an international conference in Moscow to hammer out a new mechanism for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “Thus, Russia was offered the role of the main mediator in the peace process,” Nezavisimaya Gazeta wrote, reported Russian state news agency TASS.

Alexander Shumilin, who heads the Europe-Middle East Center for at RAS Europe Institute told the newspaper, he believes that Abbas’s decision is proactive. “With his dramatic step, which, of course, complicates the situation, he wants to restrain Netanyahu until the annexation already happens. What effect this will have is not clear. I believe that Abbas will be able to somewhat slow down the annexation,” the expert forecasted.

According to Shumilin, the fact that the Trump administration has recently begun to act much more cautiously in the Middle East plays in favor of Abbas. At the same time, the expert noted that Netanyahu is unlikely to abandon his plans, unless he faces overwhelming pressure. “A lot depends on the reaction of Arab countries, primarily Saudi Arabia. Trump is listening to [kingdom’s] opinion,” Shumilin said. Meanwhile, although all Arab countries condemned Netanyahu’s plans, no one suggested any specific measures.

It’s vital for Israel to control its bank of the Jordan River and isolate West Bank Arabs from it.
If the Arabs win the next war, one can be sure of a second Holocaust.
The EU and USA are becoming increasingly unstable.
They may not even be able to hinder[EU] or help[US] as the case may be.
If Trump loses, it will be a catastrophe for Israel.
Perhaps Netanyahu can hold off on an annexation to let the Russians save-face.
Israel must avoid seeming to be arrogant.
There is already a de facto annexation.
Israel needs the Russian and the Russians view Israel as a thorn in its side?

Controlling it’s bank of the Jordan makes it possible for Israel to survive a military offensive aimed at cutting the country in half. If that happens, then Israel could be defeated piecemeal.

Israel will likely need to prepare for independent action without allies since it’s unlikely the Europeans would come to Israel’s aid. They have their hands full dealing with overwhelming numbers of immigrants, and if there was a Middle Eastern war, likely there would be some kind of support in Europe, protests and possible unrest as has happened in Paris recently before the pandemic set in.
The US, if Trump loses, will likely resume the Obama administration stance on Israel, one of suppressing Israel defensive measures and opposing Israel in the UN.
Unfortunately, Israel has become an election issue in the US. While both parties formerly supported Israel, that’s probably not the case any longer.
