The appearance of Trump envoy Steve Witkoff on an interview with Tucker Carlson is getting pushback from Israeli journalists and other voices.
Witkoff praised Russian President Putin’s intellect and told of President Trump’s friendship with the Russian leader.
Witkoff, who is Jewish, also praised the rationality of the Qataris, to the anger of some in the Israeli community.
Witfkoff detailed how the peace process has rapidly moved forward under President Trump in the Middle East, and in Ukraine. He also spoke about the President’s desire to avoid war with Iran.
Witkoff also vocally outlined a deep understanding of Israel’s needs and desires in the region, and said Israel could not exist alongside Hamas, and Hamas must be removed from power in Gaza. He supported Israel restarting the military phase of the conflict until Hamas returns to the negotiating table.
Many Israeli voices were not impressed.
The little I saw of Steve Witkoff’s interview with Tucker Carlson made me realize one thing: the new administration lacks wisdom in choosing the right people to advise the president on Middle East issues. You can’t send a businessman who is heavily invested in the region. The Muslim Brotherhood is behind much of the antisemitic rhetoric in American universities and the instability in our region, yet they are respected and praised as political entities—Qatar and Turkey, declared Israeli journalist Amir Tsarfati on his Telegram channel.
Arsen Ostrovsky, an international human rights lawyer also spoke up on X.
