Hezbollah’s decline in power is possibly opening up the Lebanese government to working with other nations in the region for peace.
“According to people I know in high places, Hezbollah is becoming an irrelevant factor in Lebanon due to its weakened state. Lebanon is finally engaging in talks with America about normalization with Israel. As a result, Israel has released five Lebanese war prisoners and begun negotiating with the new Lebanese president to finalize a solution to the 13 disputed territorial points along their shared border,” reported Israeli journalist Amir Tsarfati.
“It’s a small step in the right direction. I don’t think we’ll be able to fly to Beirut anytime soon, but I welcome the prospect.
“At the same time, Israel must always reserve its right to eliminate any attempt by Hezbollah to regain power if the Lebanese aren’t doing so.”
The IDF is continuing to weaken Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon.
IDF spokesman: “The IDF attacked infrastructure at a site for the production and storage of strategic weapons by the terrorist organization Hezbollah in the Bekaa region in Lebanon.”
“A short time ago, a Hezbollah compound located between the mountains in the eastern Bekaa, between Nabi Shit and Brital, south of the city of Baalbek, was attacked again (for the third time).
At the compound, Hezbollah produced and stored advanced weapons, including precision weapons. The compound is close to the border with Syria and arms smuggling routes (marked with red arrows). The compound was attacked on May 16, 2024, and February 6, 2025.
Hezbollah continues its military reconstruction efforts despite its many difficulties. Among other things, the reconstruction efforts include its self-production systems. The complex is being attacked a third time to ensure that it does not return to capacity.”

Yesterday, the former head of the Shin Bet (Israel’s equivalent of the FBI) publicly threatened to expose private information about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if the Prime Minister takes actions that he deems illegal—in other words, if he dismisses the current head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar.
Netanyahu has publicly said he will dismiss Bar.
*Statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu*
*Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this evening (Sunday, 16 March 2025)* [translated from Hebrew]:
“Citizens of Israel,
We are in the midst of a war for our very survival – a war on seven fronts.
At any time, but especially during such an existential war, the Prime Minister must have complete confidence in the Director of the ISA.
Unfortunately, however, the situation is the opposite: I do not have that confidence. I have a continuing lack of confidence in the Director of the ISA. Distrust that only grew with time.
Due to this continuing lack of confidence, I have decided to submit a draft decision to the Government this week on concluding the service of the Director of the ISA.
I wish to clarify: I have nothing but appreciation for the men and women of the ISA. They are doing important and dedicated work for the security of us all.
As Prime Minister, who is responsible for the ISA, I am convinced that this step is crucial in order to restore the organization, to achieve all of our war objectives, and to prevent the next tragedy.”
