Israel Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a video interview that Israel and the United States dropped 35,000 bombs on Iran.

Katz said: “35,000 bombs, I repeat, were dropped on Iran by Israel and the United States. We dropped most of them, by the way. You have to understand what that means. We simply destroyed things there.”

Katz revealed that Israel, together with the US, dropped 35,000 bombs on Iran, a much larger number than what has been reported so far by Israeli officials. As reported by the Jerusalem Post, on March 25 Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir confirmed that the IDF had dropped 15,000 bombs on Iran since the start of the war on February 28. The number of 35,000 bombs includes those dropped by both Israel and the US, and in the interview Katz gives no breakdown beyond saying that Israel dropped most of them.

Katz said: “The achievements are dramatic. In Gaza, we have achieved our objectives. Seventy to eighty percent of Gaza is destroyed. The same is true in southern Lebanon.”

On Lebanon, Katz said: “Look at what is happening in Lebanon. Today, more than 60 villages in southern Lebanon, beginning with those adjacent to the border, and beyond that, throughout the entire security zone up to the Yellow Line, an area of 700 square kilometers, are destroyed. All the villages have been wiped out. Twenty-three thousand houses, all destroyed, demolished. I am not even talking about what is underground, about the tunnels. Everything has been destroyed. There are no residents there. Two hundred thousand residents are outside. This is the Gaza model. And this is the model we are implementing.”

Israeli forces reinvaded the south of the country, with the fighting spreading to other parts of Lebanon after Iran-backed Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel on March 2, the start of the US-Israel war against Tehran. Katz has previously said Israeli troops would not be withdrawn from Lebanon.
