During the weekly Israeli cabinet meeting this morning in Jerusalem, PM Netanyahu delivered remarks honoring the departing Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Gadi Eizenkot. In his remarks, Netanyahu took responsibility for the recent strikes against Hezbollah and Iranian interests in Syria and the overnight airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, saying that under Gen. Eizenkot’s leadership Israel has taken “impressive actions to stop the Iranian military establishment in Syria, including hundreds of strikes against Hezbollah and Iranian targets.” Netanyahu remarked further that “the latest strike proves that we are determined more than ever before to act against Iranian interests in Syria.” “Gen. Eizenkot and I have acted together against the manufacturing of precision armaments in Lebanon, against Hezbolla’s terror tunnels along the Lebanese border, and prevented many terror acts from the Gaza Strip. Many more actions will remain forever hidden than were so far disclosed”, he added. Netanyahu concluded by thanking Gen. Eizenkot for his service as the 21st Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Force.
