UPDATE: Hamas has rejected ceasefire deal, demanding war cessation first.
Israel and Hamas are close to another hostage release deal, and Israeli government officials are openly talking about returning Israeli citizens to their homes, evacuated after the October 7th attacks.
“Reports in a new deal with Hamas: 45 days of ceasefire for 35 hostages in the first stage. 100-250 terrorists per abductee, including serious murderers – ie 4000-5000 released in total, the highest number in the history of the conflict. Significant “humanitarian” aid”, reported independent journalist Amir Tsarfati.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Monday, 29 January 2024), held a meeting on the issue of returning the residents of the south to their homes.
The Prime Minister’s Office Director General, the Government Secretary, the Finance Ministry Director General, the Director of the Tekuma Authority and additional representatives attended the meeting.
There has been significant progress in the preparations and final adjustments are being made to advance the issue.
The decisions will soon be submitted for Government discussion.
