Today is the International Women Day and the Israeli Government Office of Statistics has just published a snapshot of Israeli women.

At the end of 2017 Israel was home to 4,433,560 women. 51.5% of the Jewish women in Israel who are between the ages of 25 and 29 are married, compared to 55.1% a decade ago, showing a trend to marry later in life. In contrast, 74.4% of Muslim Arab women in that age group are married. However later in life, between the ages of 45 and 49 only 9.5% of Jewish Israeli women are unmarried, compared to 11.9% of the Arab women.

The average Israeli woman will give birth to 3.11 children in her lifetime, well above the 2.1 child average needed for sustaining the population at the current levels as well as above the 1.7 child per woman average in the OECD index of developed nations and the 1.8 number in the US.

90% of the 1.13 million Israeli women who have children under the age of 17 are married, while 10% are single mothers or are in a relationship other than marriage. In the US, 69% of children are raised in two-parent households.
