After Iran announced earlier this week that it has developed its first hypersonic missile which it has named the ‘Fattah’ and has described as an ‘invincible’ weapon, Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, reiterated that Tel Aviv is capable of stopping any Iranian threat and reaffirmed that Israel’s military will always hold a technological edge over Tehran.

“I hear our enemies boasting about weapons they are developing. To any such development, we have an even better response – whether it be on land, in the air, or in the maritime arena, including both defensive and offensive means,” Gallant said during remarks on Tuesday at a northern military base.

“We will know how to protect the citizens of Isreal, and how to strike our enemies with a crushing blow if, God forbid, they start a war against us,” Gallant added in a video statement.

On Tuesday, Iran announced that it had joined the U.S., China, and Russia as one of the only countries in the world to have developed a hypersonic missile.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi who said, “Today we feel that the deterrent power has been formed.”

“This power is an anchor of lasting security and peace for the regional countries,” he added.

As most of the world pays attention to what has been happening with the war in Ukraine, Israel has been warning its allies not to neglect what it claims is a consistently advancing Iranian nuclear program. Tel Aviv has gone so far as to run emergency preparedness drills that have simulated a major attack by Iran and its regional allies.

The Times of Israel reported that:

On Sunday night, the high-level security cabinet convened at the military’s main operational command bunker in Tel Aviv to simulate political decision-making during a potential multifront war.

While the drill and cabinet meeting were pre-planned, they came during escalated tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and Israeli warnings that a broad conflic coul dbreak out over the issue.

According to ZeroHedge, during Tuesday’s unveiling, Revolutionary Guard program commander Gen. Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said that Iran’s hypersonic missile has a range of up to 870 miles and explained that “there exists no system that can rival or counter this missile.” The Fattah can also reportedly reach speeds of up to Mach 15.

Despite Iran’s claims during the unveiling ceremony, there has yet to be independent confirmation that Iran has actually developed a hypersonic weapon that is capable of being deployed. Much of the footage from a video shown during the ceremony appeared to be computer-generated graphics, leaving doubt in the minds of many observers. Regardless of questions regarding Iran’s hypersonic capabilities, Tehran has long had an advanced ballistic missile program that Israel has been right to remain leery of.
