The Israeli government has declared it needs to control the Gaza border with Egypt
Wall Street Journal: Israel has informed Egypt that it is going to launch an operation to take over the Philadelphi corridor very soon.
This is the main oxygen pipe of Hamas, from where weapons are smuggled into the Gaza Strip, in addition to the fear of tunnels crossing into Egypt through which kidnappers and senior officials can be smuggled. Taking over the Philadelphi corridor could be a tie breaking move, writes Amir Tsarfati on his Telegram channel.
During a recent speech prior to the Oct 7 invasion, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu showed maps at the United Nations that declared a ‘new Israel’. The maps did not show any Palestinian territories.
This development on the Egyptian border aligns with that Netanyahu’s perspective.
