Knesset Passes Judicial Reform

The government of Benjamin Netanyahu passed ‘judicial reform’ today by unanimous vote.

The third and final vote on the bill passed 64-0 after a volatile session, reported Al Jazeera.

The law overturns the ‘reasonableness provision’ of the Supreme Court, which allows a mostly leftist judiciary to simply cancel legislation it does not like.

The progressive camp is now saying Israel is turning fascist, giving the executive too much power, while the conservative opposition declares former Prime Minister Ehud Barak is trying to instigate a military coup.
